One of a Kindness

World Kindness day!

The Irony

I woke up today albeit earlier than my alarm but I wasn’t grumpy, sign of good things to come. I managed to leave my house about 8:40 am. Things were going well and then 25mins later, I was stuck on a train. From a signal failure to a full blown suspension, Jubilee line had bowed out. Anxiety began to set in, should I go home? should I continue to work?, what to do?, what to do? I sent a text to my boss, ‘need to find alt route asap’ Got off the train, got a refund and got on a bus.

As I walked down the catwalk to my desk at 10:20am, I was all smiles. I overcame! I wasn’t going to allow this little act of unkindness ruin my day. Rather, I will be kind to myself by brushing it off my shoulder 🙂

In the Line of Duty

More support work to be done. I went over, with N,  the graphic designer what had been done, good work from him despite all that this project had been through. We got the work out of the door by the end of the day. Waiting for feedback from the GP and PO.

No sign of the new project in sight, my boss said zilch about it. Had a meeting at 4pm, probably the worst time to book a meeting with the exception of 5 or 6pm. This was a project I had worked on briefly in January and finally there was someone available to build it! The meeting didn’t go badly at all, It’s great that they all knew what they wanted and everyone was on the same page (pun intended, not that you know:) )

Bumped into my ex-project Head TA (Technical Architect), my inspiration for boat living! He offered to give me his Play Station 2, and he said I should just remind me to get it off his boat, how cool?

I spent a bit of the day learning how to work with Axure, we have been talking in the team about trying out coded prototypes. At the very least we can add another tool to our toolbox, as my people say ‘In case of incasity’ These software we use, Omnigraffle, Balsamiq, Axure are just tools to help us get to where we want to go or communicate more effectively. There is no doubt that Axure is very valuable, so another act of kindness!

Diwali

From the Donuts and Sweets in the office kitchen, the dinner and cupcakes at my fellowship group to the fireworks lighting up the sky as I walked to my house, it’s just been one giant fireball of a good day *cough cough cough*.
